High Noon Has Lower Alcohol Content Than White Claw, Yet Is Taxed More Heavily And Harder To Purchase In Much Of U.S.
While stocking up this summer for cook outs, graduation parties, and family vacations, Americans can expect a logistical wrench to be thrown into their plans depending on the state they are in and their beverage of choice. Americans who prefer High Noon over White Claw, for example, will pay a higher excise tax on their purchase and, depending on the state, might have to make an extra trip to a government-run liquor store to procure their preferred adult beverage.
Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits adds two states to US footprint
Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits has agreed the acquisition of Horizon Beverage Group, boosting its US state presence to 47.
The purchase, for an undisclosed sum, will see Horizon’s operations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, “as well as their wine, spirits and beer portfolio”, join Southern Glazer’s. The regional distributor will shift across, with its existing business structure unaffected, to sit under east region president Scott Oppenheimer.
Among the brand owners that Horizon deals with are Brown-Forman, Heineken and Suntory Global Spirits.
Can the Beverage Industry Stand United Amid Anti-Alcohol Animosity on Multiple Fronts?

On the broad message — that alcohol has a place in society, and that it can be consumed at safe levels — the industry largely agrees. But with increased competition for drinkers’ dollars, nearly everything else is a battleground

Having a Cash Price and a Card Price is
A Win-Win! (for you and customers)
How Much Did YOU LOSE Last Month in Credit Card Fees by NOT Being on Dual Pricing?
$3,000? $5,000? $10,000?
‘Why is there a different price for using my card now?’
“We’re rolling out some new pricing strategies that in the end will allow us to be more competitive on National Brands and offer lower prices in general, along with Loyalty savings. An added bonus is that those that need to save every day, on every item, can do so with Cash. It’s actually really exciting. It’s not something you’re going to want to miss!”
With Dual Pricing, customers get an additional way to save EVERY day, not just on “Sr. Tuesday”, “Wine Wednesday”, etc… “Save w/ Cash 7 days a week”.
Competitors not doing Dual Pricing do not have pricing flexibility.
What would happen if you could…
- Lower the regular price of Tito’s by $1 a bottle, for example
- Avoid the next price increases that the store down the street can’t
