FTC Preparing Lawsuit Over Alcohol Pricing
The Federal Trade Commission is preparing to file a lawsuit against the largest U.S. alcohol distributor, Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits, over practices related to how it prices and sells wine and liquor around the country, according to four people with knowledge of the matter. The case would represent yet another move by the Biden administration to rein in dominant companies in all sectors of the economy, as it tries to demonstrate it is fighting to bring costs down for the average consumer.
New Pa. bill allows spirits ready-to-drink cocktails to be sold alongside beer, wine
A bill allowing low alcohol-by-volume spirits ready-to-drink cocktails to be sold from certain retail outlets that already sell beer and wine products was passed Wednesday by the Pennsylvania Senate.
Senate Bill 688, sponsored by Sen. Mike Regan, R-Cumberland/York, heads to the House for consideration. The bill amends the state Liquor Code to allow retailers such as grocery and convenience stores to sell ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages or canned cocktails.
Bill would allow shipping of craft liquor, cider to NY customers
Unlike wine and beer, craft liquor and cider cannot be shipped directly to customers in New York State. During the pandemic, distillers were allowed to do so. Now they’re pushing for a law to make it permanent.“When the emergency benefit of that was taken away, it really hurt a lot of distillers,” said Derek Grout, owner of Harvest Spirits. “I’ve seen a lot of my fellow distillers struggle. Some have even gone out of business, and I think it’s something I really think would help not only the distillers, but all of the ancillary businesses that count on distilleries.
Customer Correspondence
“Hi Gary
Hope all is well. Everything has been going well with Dual Pricing. I have had a few complaints but nothing to lose sleep over. We have saved close to $25,000.00 over the last 6 months.
I have given my employees raises and been able to keep my prices lower than most of the competition around me. Wish I had made the switch a year ago.
Thanks again! Joe“

Building CC fees into your pricing is
Bad Marketing!
HOW MUCH DID YOU LOSE LAST MONTH IN CC FEES BY NOT BEING ON DUAL PRICING? $3,000? $5,000? $10,000?
Building CC fees into your pricing is Bad marketing practice
Did you know that raising your prices just raises your fees as well?
Your price ALWAYS looks higher than a store that can highlight their Cash price.
With Dual Pricing, customers get an additional way to save EVERY day, not just on “Sr. Tuesday”, “Wine Wednesday”, etc… “Save w/ Cash 7 days a week”.
Competitors not doing Dual Pricing do not have pricing flexibility.
What would happen if you could…
- Lower the regular price of Tito’s by $1 a bottle, for example
- Avoid the next prices increases that the store down the street can’t
